Gay America...
Why is freedom so easy to enjoy for ourselves but hard to grant to others. It really shouldn't be like that. How come society looks at people and sees traits not people? Perhaps the most oppressed group of people in America today are gays and lesbians. So lets try to figure out, what is so different about them that would cause this oppression.
We come from rich families, poor families and everywhere in between. We come from the suburbs and from the inner cities. We are the police and those that they pursue. We are artists and we are professionals. We are religious people and non believers. We work 100 hour weeks, and we are the unemployed. We serve in the military and the peace corps. We are republicans and we are democrats. We are conservative and we are liberal. We are assertive and we are shy. We are loved and we are hated. We are accepted and we are disowned. We are doctors and lawyers, and those that need them. We are educated and we are highschool dropouts. We are Americans.
I'm not trying to make the case that gays and lesbians are the same as everybody else. There are fundamental differences no matter how you look at it. However, all Americans have differences. It is our ability to accept those differences and use them to our advantage that makes us strong. Why then are we unwilling to accept this difference?

Sorry but I couldn't go without commenting on this blog. The thing that I try hard in life to do is to view every situation from the other persons perspective. That is very hard for many people to do because they let thier beliefs interfere way to much. The biggest example I have of this is, I have absolutely no problem with Conservatives. I may even approve of what they say and believe, but I do have a problem with the Republican who can't tell me why they are. Same with liberals/democrats.
In this case though, you have to view it from a very unbias way. Quite difficult with the position we are in. But if you view it from thier point of view (It should be very easy for the other Ben see because he says it daily) but they view our sex as wierd. Also, when the word homosexual is said, what is the first thing they think of? Not the romantic picture of two guys walkin down the street or anything like that. They see...
The guy in whitey tighties with a raimbow flag as a cape prancing down the street in a parade. Hum, sound like NYC Pride? Sound like any Pride? Yes, Why are we given the image of this that we have now? Why do they not like us? We do it to our selves. We create an extreme image and we dont display the real... or the other gay world. We are not real people to most of the world. We dont have normal lives, normal jobs, or feelings because we dont let the world know who we are. Why dont we? Because the guy down on the streets of NYC who makes us look like retards and as animals causing the public to hate us. We do it to ourselves.

PS: It isn't only us; however, the majority of the problems originate with us. We need to fix our problems at home before we fix thiers.
