Why I am republican...
Ok, so tecnically my idealogy is closer to that of the Libertarian party than it is to that of the Republican party. That causes most people to ask, why are you a republican?
Well, in short I think that the libertarian party is where good republicans go to die. See, the truth is, the mainstream republican party has been hijacked by a group of people that are not living up to its ideals. The religious right has such a firm hold on it that it is almost scary. So that causes an exodous to the libertarian party by the few republicans left in the party that hold its true ideals. However, I am not willing to make that move. I think third parties are stupid and the idea that they will ever sieze any sort of power is beyond ridiculous. They don't have the resources nor the power to beat one of the two major parties. And even if we had a good candidate comming from a third party, the American people are far to apathetic to ever elect them.
Look in Europe where the voter turn out is much higher than it is here. They have more than one party in office. Here, the only people that vote are members of the two parties. Nobody else cares.
So in short, I will not leave my party behind. I feel it is my duty to fight from within to restore the party to its former glory. After all, this is the party of Lincoln and Reagan. It is certainly worth fighting for.

Although being part of a political party is a decision to belong to be part of a whole, it is also important to realize that sometimes political parties are too strict on their beliefs.
In example, a republican that supports stem cell research would be entirely mocked, even if he shares all other thoughts similar to the republican party. That one small difference in personal opinion would restrict you from being a "pure republican".
I am not pointing fingers, just reflecting upon the simple fact that a person should formulate his own opinions before joining a party. In your post, it sounds rather as if you support the party, and whatever the party believes, you believe.
It is not my place to lecture you on politics; perhaps you are much better informed on current events than I am. However, I encourage you to rethink your political views and rethink your steadfast support of your party.
-I really enjoy reading your small rants; keep up the good work
