Ignorance

There is truly nothing more dangerous than ignorance in a society. Every dictator has ruled his society simply because of the ignorance of the society that they were over. We as Americans like to think that something like that couldn't happen here, because we are the educated country. We like to think that somehow we have free thought and we think for ourselves, yet at the same time we are manipulated by so many different sources. We let commonly accepted beliefs stand unchallanged.

For instance, most of us have been told all of our life that the bible condemns homosexuality, so we just accept it. Now honostly, how many people have actually read these versus that condemn it? In fact, how many people even know what the verses are? Instead of looking to see if they are actually there, people have just accepted and leave it at that. When one actually takes the time to look at these verses they will find that in fact nothing is said about homosexuality, the verses are merely twisted to fit the preception that society has given them.

It makes me sick that people refuse to think for themselves. The fact that it is so widespread and the fact that people dont give a damn about it means that we accept ignorance. It may seem like no big deal at this level, but things of this sort always escalate. America has met one of the early stages of its downfall.

It's funny how things work out in today's world. Straight people would be much happier if all the homos would just lie to themselves and the world by living their lives as closeted homos, or better yet straight people. Well get it through your heads.....Gays Arnt Straight. There is a reason for that. And just when you meet someone that says they will "tolerate" or even "accept" your lifestyle, you overhear them cutting the usual jokes in a group with the guys. Its almost pathetic.

Now granted, I know that not everyone hates homosexuals. It just seems like a difficult life to live. That fact alone makes me seriously wonder why people still believe there is a choice in the matter. After all, who would choose to be gay. This is a country that discriminates against homosexuals at almost every turn. There is no societal benefit to being a homosexual, so why then would people choose this lifestyle?
